Day 6
Today was another great day. We set out after breakfast and one of our first sightings was a lone elephant.
Next we saw a male lion with a buffalo kill. There were quite a lot of cars around but Alladin got us in a great position to watch. We stayed until the lion eventually wandered off into the bush.
We then started to drive down to the SE of the Serengeti. We saw a few different birds and some giraffe on the way.
Next we came across a group of lions sleeping/relaxing.
We were now in an area where large numbers of zebra and wildebeest were gathering before moving to Ndutu.
Our next great sighting came from 5 male lions asleep on or beside some rocks.
As we were watching one decided to walk off in the direction of some other rocks, 3 of the others then decided to follow, leaving one still sleeping on the rocks.
We follow them as they walk to the other rocks and Alladin manages to position us so we can watch them climb the rocks, one by one.
Once they had climbed the rocks, they then walked around the other side, presumably looking for some shade.
They eventually all settled down to sleep.
Finally the one who had stayed behind decided to join the rest.
At this point we decided to leave the lions to it and find a safe place for lunch.
During the afternoon we saw several groups of hyena, some of which didn't seem too keen to see each other. There were also more zebra and wildebeest, a warthog family and a group of 11 lions (10 under a tree and 1 in a ditch).
Our final sightings of the day included a tortoise and a chameleon.
Our evening followed the normal routine of shower then dinner and then promptly to bed as Alladin wanted to have breakfast at 6.30 the following morning.
