Mwanza

 2 Nights in Mwanza

Robert arrived at Little O at about 8.30. We were still having breakfast so he joined us. Once we were in the car we said goodbye to Joseph and Johan headed to Mwanza.

It was a pretty straightforward journey apart from the usual increase in traffic as you approach town. It was now lunchtime and Little O had given us lunch boxes so we went straight to the ACTT offices.

On arrival we were greeted by all the staff - Justina, Tina, Caro and Thomas. They were all busy sorting out all the computer equipment that we are going to take to the schools over the next 2 weeks. As you can see there is quite a lot of it.

We have decided to stay in the Hotel Tilapia this trip, so after lunch Robert dropped us there.

We checked in and were shown to our room. The hotel has really good views over Lake Victoria from both our balcony and the bar/restaurant.

We unpacked and then I did some washing, hanging it on my travel washing line on the balcony to dry.   I have to say this little washing line has been one of my best buys for longer trips.

We then headed down to the bar for a drink and later dinner. The food was actually very good.

The following morning we had a slow start as we weren’t meeting up with Robert until the afternoon. We had a relaxed breakfast and then did some preparation for our school visits from the bar. I also started writing this blog.

Robert picked us up about 3pm and we went to the ACTT offices to meet up with the staff. This evening we were all heading out for a social evening. The staff had chosen to go to a place called Ellie’s Beach Bar on the banks of Lake Victoria.

When we arrived we all get drinks and had a walk around. The place was actually very quiet but you could see it had potential.

We stayed here for a couple of hours chatting. However in the end everyone decided they didn’t want to eat here so we headed back towards Mwanza to a place one of them knew.

This place looked much better and produced some nice food. Robert always likes to do a bit of an annual review at these get togethers and this was the followed by some discussion about how they can improve over the next year. There was then the presentation of a small bonus to each of them. Everyone seemed to have a good time and the evening didnt finish until about 11.
