1 New School to Visit
Today we are visiting Ziwani Primary School in Nyarugusa in Geita Rural Region. This is a new school for us. They have 19 teachers 15 of whom completed the computer training course run by Hamisi in July last year. They have around 1800 children from nursery to Standard 7.
Robert picks us up at 8.30 and we meet Hamisi at the junction where we turn off the main road onto a fairly rough road to drive to Nyarugusa.
This was an absolutely massive church and very new.
When we arrive we are met by the headteacher and the Ward Education Officer and taken to the headmasters office. We have quite a chat with the Ward Education Officer who makes a copious amount of notes.
We are then shown into the staff room where we are joined by the Village Chairman, the Ward Executive Officer, the Chair of the School Board and of course lots of teachers.
Everyone introduces themselves and then the headteacher thanks us for coming as does the Education Officer.
As usual Robert then explains about ACTT and our Computer Loan Project ( the Education Officer is still making notes!)
After this we tell them we will be loaning them 3 computers and a printer which we present to them and, yes you guessed it…..more photos of which I only post a tiny proportion . These presentations were so much quicker before every teacher had a phone and wanted a photo with us 😀.
Once the photos are over Robert and I go through the Loan Contract with the headteacher and the 2 teachers who will sent the reports. Then we get the contracts signed.
One of the teachers then tells us they have prepared lunch for us in the headmaster’s office which is very nice of them and quite unexpected.
At Hamisi’s office we load the computers for our final 2 schools into the car and then drive back to Geita.
