Day 5
Today started off with plenty of birds.
Our first big sighting of the morning was a cheetah family - a mum and 2 almost adult cubs. Alladin spotted them and for ages we were the only car watching. The cubs were up on a termite mound and the mum was on the ground.
Moving on from the cheetahs we then saw 2 leopards in a tree. They were quite a way away so the photos aren’t brilliant.
Carrying on we stopped at a picnic place which had some nice views.
After this we saw 2 very sleepy lions on a rock and the later a further 4 lions in a tree.
By now the tracks were getting really muddy and slippery. Alladin had no problem coping with the conditions but we saw several other drivers really struggling to keep control of their cars ….really quite scary to watch.
It was now about 2pm so we headed to the Visitors Centre for lunch, where we were joined by some banded mongoose.
After lunch the skies got darker and darker and soon the heavens opened. It rained really heavily with hail at times so in the end we called it a day and returned to camp at about 4.30.
We spent the afternoon relaxing in our tent which is lovely.
